Al Qalam Institute was founded on a simple but urgent conviction: every Muslim deserves access to authentic, qualified Islamic education — and geography, time zone, or lack of local resources should never stand in the way.
Our story
We were established more than five years ago by qualified Quran teachers and Islamic scholars who observed a troubling reality: millions of Muslims living outside Muslim-majority countries were growing up without adequate Islamic education. Parents in London, Chicago, Toronto, and Sydney searched for qualified Quran teachers and found either nothing, or options of questionable quality.
The solution was clear: bring genuine, qualified Islamic education online. Not mass-produced video content, not automated apps, not group classes — but real, live, one-on-one teaching from formally qualified scholars, available to any Muslim with an internet connection, at any time of day, in any time zone.
Five years later — with students in more than 20 countries, hundreds of children who have learned to read the Quran from scratch, and dozens of students progressing through Hifz — that is what we have become. Today we offer Quran classes, Tajweed, Arabic, and Islamic Studies to Muslim families worldwide.
The name ‘Al Qalam’ — The Pen — references the first revelation: ‘Iqra’ — Read. It echoes Allah’s oath: ‘Nun. By the Pen and what they inscribe.’ (Al-Qalam 68:1)

Founded Al Qalam Institute with the vision of creating a global platform for authentic Islamic education. Oversees all academic programmes and teacher development. Known for her warm, patient teaching style with adult beginners.
Hafiz Muhammad Umar
Certified Hafiz with years of dedicated experience teaching Quran memorisation. Leads our Hifz Department. Known for precision in error correction and genuine investment in every student's success.
Ustadh Abdul Azeem Sanabeeli
Graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah specialising in Quranic Sciences and Tafsir. Combines classical scholarship with remarkably accessible teaching in both English and Urdu.
Ustadh Tanveer Ahmad
Specialist Arabic language educator with extensive experience teaching non-native speakers at all levels. Developed the curriculum for our five Arabic learning tracks.
